For one week only, from #GivingTuesday (29 November) right through to Tuesday 6 December, all donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice will be doubled as part of The Big Give, the UK’s biggest online match funding campaign.
St. Joseph’s Hospice, in Liverpool, is taking part in The Big Give Christmas Challenge to fund a very special renovation project that will see the complete renovation of one of its inpatient units to make it more welcoming and fit for purpose.
Through The Big Give, the hospice has set itself a target to raise £8,600 in donations during the week, which runs from midday on Tuesday 29th November 2022 to midday Tuesday 6st December 2022. If it reaches its target, The Big Give’s will double every penny! This means that all the donations made during the week will be worth an incredible £17,200!
Maxine Armstrong, head of fundraising and lottery at St. Joseph’s Hospice, said: “By donating through The Big Give, our supporters have a fantastic opportunity to make a really big impact. This year, your donations through The Big Give will enable us to create a new nurses’ station closer to patient rooms and convert the surrounding area into a calm, relaxing communal area for patients and families to sit and chat. Raising funds in this way will greatly improve the hospice and our service without adversely affecting the hospice financially.
“In previous years, The Big Give Challenge has made a huge difference to the hospice. In 2021, we were able to provide dementia friendly signage and assistive technology equipment throughout the hospice to support patients and visitors with dementia. In 2020, the Big Give Challenge enabled us to create two new patient rooms, increasing our capacity to 31 private patient rooms. So it’s clear to see just how significant this challenge is for us.”
