Local ladies raise £20k for hospice

The St. Joseph’s Hospice Spring Ladies Day has raised an incredible £20,000 thanks to the generosity of two hundred Merseyside ladies.

Welcome drinks and a three-course lunch were followed by pampering, shopping and a great deal of dancing at Formby Hall last month.

Eithne Brown, aka Brookside’s Chrissy Rogers, hosted the event and made sure everyone has a fantastic afternoon. She also encouraged everyone to dig deep for the chance to win a range of stunning prizes, all in aid of the hospice.

During the afternoon, everyone took to the dancefloor and partied the day away with a wide range of hits from across the decades, thanks to DJ Jeff Wall.

A wide range of local businesses and talented crafts people were also on hand selling gifts, treats, handbags and accessories, providing the perfect excuse to get started on that summer holiday shopping.

Laura Smith, fundraiser at St Joseph’s Hospice, said: “Ladies Day is one of our most popular events in our fundraising calendar as it’s always so much fun. Everyone just comes to have a really good time and they are incredibly generous with their support for the hospice too.

“I want to say a really big thank you to our match funders from Barclays and Barclaycard and all the local businesses who donated money and prizes.

“We’re looking forward to seeing everyone again at our Christmas Ladies Day at the Titanic on Sunday 25th November.”
