Hospice to hold Will Month

St. Joseph’s Hospice has extended its usual Will Week to a whole month this May.

Only 30 per cent of people have a Will in place, despite the fact that Wills are arguably one of the most important things you can do for yourself and your family. Wills provide legal protection for your spouse and children, making sure that your assets are passed on according to your wishes.

This May, St. Joseph’s Hospice is being supported by twelve solicitors across Merseyside who will be giving up their time and waiving their fees throughout the month so that you can write a Will, or update an existing one, and avoid paying any solicitors’ fees.

Participating solicitors will offer a standard Will-writing service and all the hospice asks is that you consider making a donation to St. Joseph’s Hospice.

Solicitors participating include: Kirwans in Liverpool, Southport, Prenton and Moreton; Whitfields in Formby; Maxwell Hodge in Maghull; McClure’s in Liverpool and Southport; Mooney Everett in Ormskirk; Breens in Waterloo and Southport; and Morecrofts in Liverpool.

Julie McAdam, senior community fundraiser at St. Joseph’s Hospice, said: “We are really pleased to have secured a great partnership with several local solicitors who will be supporting the hospice for the whole of May by waiving their fees. All we ask is that people consider making a donation to St. Joseph’s Hospice during our Will Month. As a guide, the cost for a single simple Will is approximately £100.

“The hospice nurses provides specialist palliative and end of life care for over 200 patients across Merseyside every year as well as support for their loved ones. As a registered charity, we need to raise £8,750 every day to keep our services running so your support of this year’s Will Month is vital.”
