Christmas Ladies Day is back

St. Joseph’s Hospice in Thornton has announced that its longest running and most successful fundraising event will be back this year.

On Sunday 21st November, the hospice will host its first Ladies Day in two years. Like many charities, the hospice struggled to raise funds throughout the pandemic, resulting in a loss of income of £600,000.

Ladies Day usually takes place twice a year, in late spring and in the run up to Christmas but hasn’t been able to hold one since December 2019.

This year, Christmas Ladies Day will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Liverpool on Sunday 21st November from 11.30am until 6pm and, with lost time to make up for, the hospice is promising some extra special festive fun for the ladies of Liverpool and Merseyside.

Tickets for Christmas Ladies Day cost £40, which includes a drink on arrival, a delicious three-course lunch, and afternoon full of entertainment, including a singer and a disco, as well as Christmas shopping from local craft stalls and retailers and special pampering sessions too.

Maxine Armstrong, head of fundraising and lottery at St. Josephs Hospice, said: “Christmas Ladies Day is a wonderful event and we are so pleased to be able to host it once again this year.

“Come along with a few friends or family members, or why not make it a work do for the girls in the office? We’ve all missed seeing people during the pandemic and Ladies Day is a wonderful way to kick start the Christmas festivities, let your hair down and have fun with the special ladies in your life.”

The hospice also has a number of opportunities available for anyone wishing to have a stall at the event. From just £40, local businesses can sell goodies such as Christmas gifts, crafts, chocolates or jewellery. They also have a number of sponsorship opportunities available.

Maxine continued: “We’re really keen to get local businesses involved in supporting the hospice at events like this so we’d love to hear from you if you run a business in the area and are looking for a charity to support through corporate sponsorship or even corporate volunteering. We can offer a package of publicity in return and are always happy to discuss any opportunities over the phone or in person.”
